Please help me raise funds for my daughter Johana. Johana is only 20 years old and is caught up in the legal system as a brown minority female, so therefore they are trying to set an example and giving her an unfair, unjust sentence for a mistake that she made when she had just turned 17. She hasn’t killed anyone; she hasn’t robbed anyone. Her offense was reacting to being pinned on the ground by 3 grown officers right after having 4 wisdom teeth removed that same morning, and while she was down, she kicked one of them. There are people who have done far worse and are given a lighter sentence, yet her original sentence was set for 20 years! She pleaded guilty and got deferred adjudication for 8 years. Johana has recently been arrested for probation violation to the original unjust sentence. We are raising funds to hire a lawyer who will fight for a just sentence for her and for her bail. She knows she messed up, but I don’t believe that this mistake should cost her to be gone for 20 years. She has a life to live and a family that loves her.
