Support Joey’s Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
My name is Jesi Rojo, I am organizing this page in an effort to support my father, Jose “Joey” Rojo. My dad was diagnosed with stage three nasopharyngeal cancer (a cancer affecting the nose and throat) in March 2022. This variety of cancer affects less than 1 in 100,000 people in the United States and its challenges are abundant. My father is not a smoker and has maintained a healthy lifestyle well into his late 50s.

My father immigrated to the USA in July 2000 with my mother, Justina, my older sister, Jodi, and me. My dad has been at service to others my whole life. He works in the kitchen of a hospital, providing nourishment to people who need it everyday. He has spent his whole life supporting our family and those around us. Growing up low-income was a burden my father did not let my sister and I feel. His cancer diagnosis was hard to understand for our family. My father loves to run, play with our dogs Peanut and Butters. My father loves walking and going to art museums. He loves cooking, fashion, and Filipino variety shows. He lives a happy and fulfilling life. Though Jodi and I are contributing as much as we can to his care, our family still needs support.

However, with his diagnosis, our family is suffering financially. My parents are low-income people living paycheck to paycheck. The loss of my father’s paycheck means that my mother is facing the brunt of overtime at work and stress when she should be spending time with her husband of almost thirty years instead.

With the generosity of any supporters, we will use the donations to help pay for: visit copays, the cost of transportation to his treatments, and daily living costs.

I thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope to provide you with good news as he battles cancer.
