This is our sweet Joey Stanger. Joey is a smart and vibrant nine year old that loves to play football, basketball, video games and loves spending time with his family and wrestling around with his cousins. A little over two weeks ago his Mom and Dad, along with our families were blindsided by the terrible news that Joey has bone cancer in his leg. Any parents worst nightmare was unfolding faster than anyone had time to process. As the tests, doctor visits, full body scans, meetings with specialists, biopsies, plans of surgery, chemo and the talk of the future came to light, reality quickly sank in. Leigh and Joe sprung into acton to get Joey into Johns Hopkins where he has the best Oncology team around. Joey currently has two large tumors, one in his Tibia and one in his Femur. They are hopeful that the cancer has not spread anywhere else but the battle of shrinking the tumors and saving his leg is the first step in his long journey. The masses have grown in such a way that the bones will need to be reconstructed after chemo when the surgery process begins to remove the tumors. Joey is already in so much pain that he is using crutches and a wheel chair to get around, as the cancer has progressed so quickly. His team of Oncologists have confirmed that the cancer is Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer that is most commonly found in children. As you can understand the thought of holding a steady work load at this time is near impossible for them between the doctor visits, hospital stays, being home with Joey and making sure his sister, Lucy's needs are met as well. We are sharing his story to ask for any help towards bills and medical expenses for Leigh and Joe to make this unbearable situation a little more bearable. Anything is greatly appreciated to help them get through this terrible time and alleviate some of the stress of finances, so they can focus on getting Joey on his way to a full recovery. Prayers are also greatly appreciated and just as important, so please keep Joey, Lucy, Leigh and Joe is your prayers. Thank you for reading this and for any donation you are able to make or prayer chain you are able to start. You got this Joey, we love you!!!
