If you know Joey, you know he is someone who takes care of others. He's the friend we can all count on. He's the steady presence behind the Bahama Bar that we all look forward to seeing. The one who shows up when you need help, remembers how you like your drink, takes the time to go the extra step (or two or three) for you whenever he can, or spends time catching up with you when you drop in for a drink or bite to eat at the bar. Paying thoughtful attention to those around him is how he shows up for the people in his life and he takes pride in giving the best service possible to anyone that visits the Bahama Bar. And like most bartenders, his income depends heavily on tips and being physically present for every shift.

Right now, Joey needs to step away from the bar for health reasons. His doctors have made it clear that he needs extended time off to focus on a full recovery. While Joey is fortunate to have health insurance and PTO to cover his hourly wages, time off in the service industry doesn't come with insurance for tips lost due to time taken off. Missed shifts means a significant loss of income for him over the weeks he will be in recovery.

This fundraiser is to help cover Joey's essential living expenses while he heals - rent, groceries, extra medical costs above what insurance covers, and other basic needs that allow him to focus on getting better instead of rushing back to work and prolonging his full recovery.
