First I want to say, Thank You for taking the time out to read my story. My name is Joey Shelton. I was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in 2023 and under went surgery for removal of top right Lung to remove cancer, July 17, 2023. After surgery I was monitored every three months and was told I was clear and had no evidence of cancer. After the 9th month of monitoring cancer, we then went to every 6 months of monitoring and I was told I was still clear of cancer. In April of 2024 I begin to notice that I was having constant pain in my left hip area and after going to hospital ER, I was told it was arthritis and needed a cortisone shot. I did not think it was that and in July I went to another hospital ER and after CT scan found that it was indeed cancer. Ironically my visit for cancer check was due in a week and I had contacted them after finding out cancer was found in my Left Hip. I was called in for MRI testing. When my results came back, instead of being called in for a office visit to get my results, I was set a video appointment. In the video appointment I was rudely told by a oncologist Doctor ( Hey Mr. Shelton we got your results back and HELL you got cancer every where!) Your Right Lung , Liver, Brain, Adrenals and Left lung there is a suspicion of cancer? I was devastated! Not only to know that the cancer was back, but in Stage 4. Also, they were supposed to had been monitoring it, yet telling me I was clear! Come to find out their monitoring of my cancer was done wrong and was done by x-ray of chest and not CT or MRI. I later found that out through another Doctor after I asked how did I end up with Stage 4 cancer, if I was being monitored all that time? This was on July 27 of 2024 when I was told about the cancer at the video appointment . I was set up for radiation for Hip in November 2024. 11 treatments on Hip and one procedure on Brain In December 21, 2024 in which both were successful at that time. January, they wanted to start chemotherapy for Lung and Liver in which I was a bit hesitant to do the chemicals and after given no other choice I under went my first treatment in February. In March the second treatment was done and I begin to get very ill, lost weight and by the third treatment I was really bad off and not well. Since then, my health has declined. I went through chemoTherapy from February-March. April Unfortunately, I had some major side effects and a allergic reaction that landed me in the hospital and I had to stop the treatments which were four treatments and would take 6 hours to administer. I was told that I probably should not try it again because of damage from last treatments. August 09, 2025 I was told at my appointment by my Oncologist Doctor that he recommend a referral to Palliative care and or Hospice to try and administer whatever aid to keep me comfortable and no plan for trying to fight this cancer. A recent CT scan showed that cancer has progressed some in the Liver, right Lung ,left Lung, Hip Adrenal, and Brain growth returning. Basically out of options, they have left me on my own to fight the cancer! With hours and weeks of research, prayers and the Lord directing me, I was able to find a organization and Doctor that may have options that could potiently help better fight the cancer and heal my body of damages done. So I am asking and seeking help to reach my goal for the cost of any x-rays, blood work, testings and treatments. Due to the type of organization, unfortunately my insurance will not cover any cost of services unless provided by those who are under their Organizations Rules and Codes. So all of the cost for services will be out-of-pocket.
