If you have found this GoFund Me, you likely know and/or admire Joey Rose and all her vibrancy, kindness and creativity.

In May, Joey Rose found a noticeable lump in her breast. After a series of appointments and tests she found out she has stage 2 breast cancer that has spread to her lymph system. This has been sobering and distressing news for Joey Rose to receive in her mid-thirties.

The good news is that treatment looks promising. She will undergo 6 months of chemo, beginning mid August. She will have surgery once the chemo is done. Throughout the chemo treatments, Joey will do vitamin C infusions as they are evidenced to make the chemo much more manageable. She will also undergo egg retrieval and freezing, as the chemo and hormone therapy needed to treat her type of breast cancer can damage fertility. Joey Rose is working on finding a good team of doctors at OHSU, a new maze for her to navigate. She keeps a very positive can-do attitude while trying her best to figure it out.

Looks like treatment will span two calendar years which is really unfortunate for her out of pocket max being met.

Cancer treatment is expensive and will span into 2025. Though much of her treatment will be covered by insurance, Joey Rose has a high out of pocket max. Vitamin C infusions, fertility and egg freezing, and naturopathic treatments add up fast. The fundraising goal will cover most of her out of pocket costs, as best as we can estimate them.

This is where we all come in. Joey Rose has inadequate health care and already is amassing expenses and huge amounts of time away from work. More than ever, Joey Rose needs the support from friends, family and community - financially, emotionally and sometimes logistically.
