My name is Megan, and I’m the store manager at the Dollar Tree in Plattsmouth, NE. Joe is one of my amazing assistant managers, and many people in our small community know him for his kind heart and willingness to help others. Joe has worked for me for almost two years, and in that time, he’s become not just a dependable coworker, but a true friend and someone I consider family. He’s always the first to step up when someone needs help, and he would give you the shirt off his back in a blizzard if it meant keeping someone else safe and warm. Even with a full-time job, there have been times when Joe has worked full-time hours for me just because he saw I needed help.

Recently, Joe was in a terrible vehicle accident at his full-time job. The injuries to his right foot are so severe that he can’t walk or drive, and he’s been out of work for weeks. Doctors say he won’t be able to return for several months. This has been incredibly hard on Joe, who is used to being on the go and helping others. His family is in Florida, but my family and our management team at the store have done our best to support him. Still, being off work from both jobs means he has no income, and the bills and groceries don’t stop coming.
