Hello All. Let me start by saying this is extremely difficult for me to ask for help. As some of you may know I was on set working on a television show and suffered a very bad injury. A part of a movie camera fell from 6 feet above me and hit me in the head, and then I fell another 6 feet and hit the ground. There was suppose to be a safety wire attached to the camera, and the camera assistant didn't do his job correctly and forgot to put it on. I suffered a concussion and a Tramatic Brain injury. I have spent the last couple of years inpatient at a brain injury rehabilitation hospital in Pomona CA. Yes, I lived there during this period. I was just recently moved to outpatient therapy. I am now picked up and taken to therapy 5 days a week, and I have a home health care person and a nurse to help me at home. I am doing much better, but I still have a ways to go. Brain injury is no joke!
Due to my injury I have not been able to work these last few years. This has caused an incredible amount of stress for me financially.
I am devastated that I lost my career and chunk of my life. I am adjusting to my new normal which is quite different from what my life used to be. Some of you may have wondered why I disappeared for quite a while, and this is why.
I am so very appreciative to my amazing team of doctors, neurologists, nurses, therapists, and techs, that have worked with me on my healing journey for these last few years. I have also been very lucky to be supported by my wonderful family and friends.
I am reaching out for help from anyone that would like to help support me on my road to recovery. I am working incredibly hard in my therapy each day. I have physical therapy, cognitive therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, vestibular therapy, and neuropsychology. I am in therapy 7 hours a day 5 days a week.
Although it has been and continues to be a long hard road to recovery, I still feel very blessed and grateful to be alive.
Thank you all so very much
Much Love, Joe
