Today I am graced to be alive in Faith-based recovery @ Gospel Mission in Sioux City, Iowa. It was a long journey to get here given the prison of alcohol addiction I built for myself. Suicidal intentions became my reality, thus with daily prayers I thank God for guiding me to the hospital emergency room on Dec 12, 2025 so that I could create a new life.
Completing 28 days in rehab was huge. I currently dwell in sober-living housing because I'm 100% committed to changing my life. Given the gifts I'm blessed with from God, I'm doing the work I am called to do each day. Right now, though, I’m in a tough spot financially while I search for steady employment and build my sober life. With your help I was blessed to move back to Iowa where my Medicaid covers my intensive outpatient treatment, thus I thank you so deeply. Now I must find employment, secure transportation and find funding to establish housing so that I can continue on my Recovery journey.
Asking for help and support is almost impossible for this independent entrepreneur. Yet I’m asking for help to stay in sober living, pay my monthly rent, pay for transportation, obtain employment with work supplies and create the stability that keeps me focused and away from triggers that could pull me backward. This environment gives me structure, accountability, and support — and that’s exactly what I need while I rebuild.
I'm a proud mechanical engineer with a Master of Science in business; I take full responsibility for my past choices. I’m never looking for a handout — I’m asking for help to stay on solid ground while I get back on my feet. If you’re able to donate or even share this, it would mean a great deal to my soul. Your kindness is golden. I’m committed to recovery and determined to come out of this stronger and healthier plus do all I'm blessed to do to help others create a truly new life.
Please help by donating to my GoFundMe page if you can. Thanking you deeply for believing in second chances.
With love,
Joel
