Joel has already fought battles most people never have to face—and he’s still fighting.

In 2026 alone, Joel has been hospitalized four times in four months due to complications from a blood cancer called multiple myeloma. One recent hospitalization turned critical, landing him in the ICU on a ventilator. For his family and loved ones, it was a moment filled with fear, uncertainty, and prayers just to bring him back.

Thankfully, Joel made it through.

But the fight isn’t over.

Now, Joel is preparing for one of the most important—and physically demanding—phases of his journey: CAR-T cell therapy, a cutting-edge treatment that offers real hope—with doctors even using the word CURE. This will mean so much to him and his loved ones as he is so motivated to return to family life and his work building dreams without the burden of setbacks from his cancer.

Joel started this process on April 27th with cell collection and a minor complication placing him back in the hospital to monitor his heart. Upon release, he will continue chemotherapy to keep his cancer under control for the short term, while CAR-T cells are prepared. Then he will undergo an intense treatment process with daily trips for close monitoring that we expect to last into most of June, if not also July.

During this time, Joel and his wife are unable to work as his body focuses on protection from infection, healing, and preparing for therapy, and she supports him through every medical hurdle and cares for their young child. The financial pressure is mounting quickly—medical costs not covered by insurance, everyday living expenses during a longer than expected recovery period, and the uncertainty of it all weigh heavily.
