We are asking our community to come together to support Joel Ruiz and his beloved family. Joel is the devoted husband of Melinda, father to Abraham, Jadah, and Noah, and a proud grandfather. His daughter Jadah serves as a Victoria County Sheriff’s Office Deputy, and his son Abraham is a Victoria Police Department Officer. Both have dedicated themselves to serving our Victoria community with heart and commitment. Now, their family needs our support more than ever.

Joel was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and will begin chemotherapy on December 11, 2025, in San Antonio. During his treatment, Joel and his family will remain in San Antonio, facing the challenges of ongoing medical, travel, and living expenses. As they focus on Joel’s fight against AML, we want to remind the Ruiz family that they are not alone. Our community stands ready to support them in this difficult season.

We know that Jadah is surrounded by her family at the Victoria County Sheriff's Office and Abraham by his at the Victoria Police Department. We ask you to look into your hearts and offer prayers and donations, big or small, to help ease the financial burden for the Ruiz family.
