Hafa Adai, friends and families!

My name is Fatima Charfauros and I organized this GoFundMe for my uncle Joel “Wee” Charfauros to undergo further treatment for his cardiovascular anomalies. All proceeds will cover any unforeseen expenses in the Philippines and hopefully further. (Expenses include travel, transportation, food, lodging, and any procedure not covered by his insurance.)

Since the age of 9, Uncle Wee has suffered from hypertension, also known as high blood pressure. While something like this would be heartbreaking to most children, he took what he was given and ran with it, meaning he did not let his diagnosis define him!

He participated in numerous sports activities and even attempted to serve his country (with this condition, he was not able to join). Today, he is a retired DPS Sergeant who enjoys spending time with his children Jesse (30 yrs), Jacey (17 yrs), and granddaughters Athena (6 yrs) and Alayla (4 yrs) whenever he can. They all mean the world to him, and he would love nothing more than to witness them grow to be wonderful people. He also continues to play his favorite sport, softball!

On December 11, 2024, he completed an echocardiogram (a non-invasive medical test that uses ultrasound technology to create moving images of the heart itself) and an ECG (Electrocardiogram: It is an exercise test that measures your heart during physical activity). The next step is to seek more advanced and possibly invasive procedures to help maintain his way of life. He loves to be active whether it be swimming laps at East Dock or riding his bicycle; there wasn’t a time of day he wasn’t on the move.
