Meet Joseph, otherwise known as “JoeFro” in our community. He was unexpectedly admitted into the hospital May 17th, 2024 and has a lengthy stay ahead of him. What is considered to be his first Crohn’s Disease flare up, it is on the more extreme side of what doctors say they have experienced. Upon admittance into the hospital doctors found a baseball size abscess, peritonitis, along with fistulizing
Crohn’s. His admitting doctor told us that he “wouldn’t have given it three more days, and this would have been fatal.” These words are haunting as he awaits word on a possible emergency surgery as he has not made any real progress. He is stuck in a cycle of going NPO (not eating or drinking anything) to clear liquids (water, juice, jell-o and broth), and back to NPO again as he cannot manage the pain he experiences when he ingests just small sips of water. In this time, Joe’s mom (Starsha) has not left his side. As the family is experiencing different financial changes this year, Starsha is the only parent working as a preschool teacher and has taken an un-paid leave of absence for the rest of the school year. She will not resume working until next year’s school year begins at the end of August. Joseph is supported by his company, Kwik Trip in that he will be able to resume work when he is able to. With no income coming into the house, the family is feeling the weight of finances as well as the impending hospital bills for Joe’s lengthy stay. Money raised will go directly to medical related expenses to help ease the financial burden this will cause.
Thank you in advance for considering helping out the Froberg Family, Joe, his dad, Aaron, Starsha and little brother John during challenging time of their lives.
