Support Joe Teijeira's Family After Wildfire Loss

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Community Members,

I am reaching out to you today with a heartfelt request to support one of our team members of Seniors Helping Seniors, Joe Teijeira, and his beloved family as they navigate through an unimaginable tragedy. Joe, a 34-year veteran of the Los Angeles Fire Department, has dedicated his life to saving others, and now he needs our help.

Joe retired as a captain of the LA Fire Department, having served the city of Los Angeles with unwavering dedication and bravery. Throughout his career, he not only extinguished countless fires but also provided critical emergency medical assistance to thousands of residents. His commitment to our safety and well-being didn’t stop after his retirement. After retirement, Joe has stayed very busy continuing to help others in the community and chose to utilize his skills and time to become a licensed Home Care Aide and caregiver for Seniors Helping Seniors. Joe’s commitment to helping others and giving back to others is endless!

Joe and his wife, Megan, worked tirelessly throughout their careers to provide a stable and nurturing home for their three sons. They invested their savings to create a home in a good school district, ensuring their children would have the best opportunities for education and growth.

However, their dreams were shattered when the 2025 Southern California Wildfires ravaged their neighborhood. As the fires approached their home, Joe's instincts as a seasoned firefighter kicked in. He knew they had to evacuate quickly. The 40+ mile per hour winds fueled fires of historic proportions across Los Angeles, and tragically, their home and those of their neighbors were completely destroyed.

The road to recovery will be long and arduous. The process of filing insurance claims and seeking assistance from FEMA and potentially rebuilding their home one day will take many, many months, if not years. In the meantime, Joe, Megan, and the children are in urgent need of temporary housing, clothing, food, and other basic necessities.

We are launching this GoFundMe wildfire relief campaign with the hope that our community can come together to support Joe and his family in their time of need. Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 to help them rebuild their lives. Your generous contributions in this GoFundMe campaign will be provided directly to Joe and his family and will provide them with the immediate relief they need and offer a beacon of hope during this challenging period.

Please consider donating whatever you can – $100, $50, $25 – no amount is too small! Your support will make a world of difference for Joe and his family. Together, we can show our gratitude for Joe's lifetime of service as a Los Angeles firefighter, Captain, and EMT, and help him and his family find stability and comfort once more.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity!

Appreciatively,
Amos
