Hi. Staff at the Child and Adolescent Psych Services (CAPS) of the Austin State Hospital (ASH) are raising funds for ASH security officer Joe Salmon. Joe is an amazing and dedicated worker, ensuring safety of patients and staff at ASH. Earlier this month while an event was happening at CAPS Joe responded and was seriously injured. He is still in the hospital at Seton Medical Center Austin on the 6th floor, and upon discharge will be transferred to a rehab hospital for six plus months.

After being transferred to Seton from CAPS Joe underwent a 5 hour surgery. Following the surgery Joe was in ICU for three days. Currently he has lost most function in one arm and has other deficiencies which will require an extended recovery.

CAPS employees want to help Joe in anyway possible. It is very sad for someone to dedicate their life everyday and for it to change in an instant. Joe has a long road of recovery ahead.
