Hello, my name is Dalia.

I am reaching out on behalf of my brother Joe Rodriguez whom is a Vietnam Veteran, his wife and sons.
My Brother Joe had a horrible accident on October 16, while working on a roof he fell 25ft on concrete. He suffered broken ribs, wrist, clavicle, lower back, upper, back, and a laceration to his head. He has endured 5 surgeries in less than a months and has metal rods holding him together.  He has been in ICU for the past 2 month. Due to his injuries, he hasn’t been able to eat any solid food and has been laying in the same position which is currently wearing him down and impacting his mental health, he is fighting to stay strong, but his PTSD is starting to be apparent. Recently we were told that he will not be able to walk, he has sensation in his legs but no movement.
Prior to his accident he worked and manage to care for his Wife Irma Rodriguez, who has first stages of Dementia and his Son Joey Rodriguez, who is special needs, doesn’t speak and is blind.
It’s been a huge unexpected hardship on his family emotionally, physically and financially. His Son Miguel Rodriguez has taken time off work to step in. He is carrying the load of his father’s household and responsibilities to care for his mother Irma, his brother Joey, manage his father’s medical, and finances. Sadly, Irma’s needs constant care, similar to a child, she keeps having accidents, most recently she fractured her nose ended up in the Hospital for 2 days. Then his brother Joey stop eating because he felt the absence of his father and ended up in the hospital. He is back home thank God, but still needs supplementary care.
All these unforeseen expenses have made it stressful on the family. Miguel is trying his best to unravel this, there are extremely difficult challenges daily and ahead of us, but we have hope that we will get through this difficult time with some HELP.
My brother Joe is Veteran Vet he receives VA disability which is enough to cover his mortgage.
To get assistant care for his wife Irma and get addition care for his son Joey is very expensive, in addition my brother’s home has to get modified for wheelchair accessibility, plus remodel a bathroom to accommodate handicap.
Those of you who know My brother Joe, knows he has a big heart and has helped so many people in need throughout the years without hesitation. I know this tragedy is temporary and God willing with faith and prayers our family will get through this difficult time.
Sometimes pride gets in the way to ask for help, and that is his son Miguel 100 percent.
So, on behalf of my brother and his family I am asking, anything will help. Much appreciated God Bless.
