Support Joe Puluso's Fight Against Pancreatitis
Donation protected
Dear friends,
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart on behalf of my dear friend Valorie Puluso and her husband, Joe, who is currently in the hospital battling a very serious case of pancreatitis.
Joe was recently admitted to the hospital after experiencing sudden and severe abdominal pain. Doctors quickly diagnosed him with acute pancreatitis, and his condition has rapidly worsened. He is presently in kidney failure and is on dialysis. He is now facing a long and uncertain road to recovery, including intensive medical care and extended hospitalization.
As you can imagine, this has placed an enormous emotional and financial burden on Valorie and their family. She has been by his side every moment, navigating the stress of medical updates, missed work, and trying to manage daily responsibilities—all while holding on to hope.
We are raising funds to help ease the financial strain this crisis has brought upon them. Donations will go directly toward medical bills, lost income, transportation, and any other unexpected expenses that arise as Joe continues his fight.
Anyone who knows Joe and Valorie knows they are kind, hardworking, and always willing to lend a hand. Now, it's our turn to show up for them.
Please consider donating—any amount helps—and sharing this fundraiser to help spread the word. Most importantly, we ask for your prayers and positive thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.
With love and gratitude,
Julie Phillips
UPDATE- From Valorie
Joe has come so far in the last couple of days. He is off oxygen and pain medication. Today PT got him up but it was exhausting. His kidney function numbers and other labs still aren't great but the Dr. said this morning, that progress is being made. In the next few days he will be getting a permanent dialysis port because he said he will be going home and continuing dialysis. The length of time for dialysis will be determined in the next three months. But overall, even though we have a long way to go, things are improving.
May 14-UPDATE From Valorie: Joe had his endoscopy today (5/14). So good news: When he starts eating more and walking more he can go home. On to the not as good news: In 2 weeks, he needs a repeat CT of his abdomen. In another 2 to 4 weeks he has to go to Riverside to have the pseudocyst on his pancreas drained. He has to go there because they said it is very specialized equipment and it is considered a high-risk procedure. I don't know what any of this means for his return to work, which I am assuming is a few months away. So we are getting towards a release from this hospital anyway. I feel that is still a few days away but at least there is a plan now.
