Hi! This is my friend Joe Pio. He doesn't usually look like this. He was riding down a street in Portland on his Vespa scooter on the way home from work at the nursing home when he hit a homeless man and shopping cart wearing dark clothing in the middle of the road on a dark section of the street. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital and spent several days in the ICU. He was released to go home for a few days and is back in right now undergoing surgery to repair his occipital socket so that his eye may remain in his head, although he will be blind for life in that eye.

Joe has come so far in life and struggled so hard. He relocated to the Pacific Northwest area of Portland after losing everything in Cincinnati, including his girlfriend.

He works as a chef at a nursing home where the residents just love him! His injuries are so severe that he will not be able to return to work for some time. He lives and manages a safe and sober house in Portland. He has no way now to cover his bills or rent. With injuries like this, and the loss of the ability to work, Joe stands to lose everything yet again.

Please consider helping out a guy that could really, really use it. He's a great guy and deserves a break in life for once. He gets up, goes to work, comes home and takes a nap, gets up and takes care of the house and matters concerning it, has a meal, sits and reads or does errands, and goes to bed to get up and start the cycle all over the next day.
