Support Joe Grantham's Fight Against Cancer

On behalf of my sister, Alyssa Pinkham, my brother, Chris Grantham and myself, Shelby Grantham, we would like to start this GoFundMe for our parents. This GoFundMe will help offset any medical expense, traveling, as well as other household expenses for my parents while our father, Joe Grantham, is receiving medical treatment for his journey with cancer.

 

On August 5, 2024, Joe received the devastating news that he had tonsil cancer. On August 12, 2024, Dr. Jefferson confirmed it was Squamous Cell Carcinoma. While they waited for the stage and as the medical team set in motion a plan to cure my dad, there has already been many visits with the oncologist, the Chemo doctor, the radiation doctor and the dentist. On August 27, 2024, Dr. Jefferson confirmed our dad had Stage 4 and it was non-operable. The plan set forth was for him to have 35 radiation treatments and 7 chemo treatment. This has left my parents driving 45-50 mins one way to Jackson to receive radiation for my father every day, Monday through Friday. He will also receive chemo one day a week leaving them to spend pretty much all day at the clinic. And then of course, they have 45-50 mins driving home.

 

Dr. Mundra, the radiologist oncologist has stressed several times that our father may not be able to work after week 3 with receiving this amount treatments and it could take several weeks after treatment before he could feel okay enough to return to work. With that being said, he just started on week two. Our dad understands that this is going to be a rough road of treatments, but he is all for it and ready to beat cancer!

 

Our father graduate from Puckett High School. Our father is not only a veteran who served almost 25 years at the 183rd and 172nd Air National Guard in Flowood, MS, but he is also our hero. He has worked over 26 years in the nursing field, sometimes working two or three jobs. He has provided support for us all to be able to play our many sports, travel ball, travel cheer, etc.  He is definitely loved by many from all over. 

Dad loves his jobs and he loves what he does, helping others. It is him time to receive help. He has already had to stop working his PRN job, which he misses his peers very much.

 

We ask for help for our parents for the travel expense every day, offset medical bills, and provide the missing income he may encounter from several weeks to maybe months.

In the coming weeks, we ask for prayers for our dad with his journey to recovery and for our mother’s strength as his caregiver. We are grateful for those that have reached out and prayed for our family. In addition, if you are led to contribute financially, we would gratefully appreciate it. While we don’t know an exact amount needed for them, we know that any contribution will help.
