Words cannot express the shock we felt when we received the call last Sunday night about Joe "Joey" Binsted having a stroke and sepsis, and subsequent cardiac damage from this event. Joe is only 42 years old, and he lives with his faithful and loving dogs, Mini and Sid. Jason and I sprang into action and raced Joey to St. Francis Hospital, where he was immediately admitted to ICU. The following days were filled with anxiety about whether or not Joe would even survive the necessary surgery.

By God's grace, he survived open-heart surgery, and he is still recovering in ICU. The doctors were extremely guarded about his prognosis. Joe relies exclusively on his income as a Kennel Manager and currently has no health insurance. We are raising money to lessen his financial burden for his medical care. Joe will need at least 6-8 weeks of IV antibiotics, stroke rehabilitation, and monthly visits with a team of doctors, including cardiologists and infectious disease specialists.
