My cousin Jody was in a car accident and has had some other health struggles recently. He is a writer and photographer and has been there for me through personal struggles of my own. Because of his injuries, his work as a photographer has been impacted. I love Jody so much because he’s very supportive of me and my little family. From my own recent health issue, I know that even temporary disability can be a huge financial bump in the road, especially with prices for food and help around the house increasing.

For those of you that didn't already know, Jody was in a pretty extreme car accident in Nevada which resulted in several severe injuries.

The automobile pictured was totaled. There is still some red tape with the deductible for the rental car. A few pictures are posted, but injuries to Jody's right arm and head were too graphic to be shown. Jody is currently on the mend and fortunately, he did not suffer a concussion. Nothing concerning brain trauma has shown up in any scans as of yet. He can’t physically take care of himself and can’t afford help with activities of daily living.

Jody's most critical injuries were having his left wrist broken, as well as blunt force trauma, contusions, and serious 'road burn' to his right arm—which could result in nerve damage. He has limited use of both arms and almost no abilities with his left hand at all.

- Because of this, he has virtually no way to prepare his own food, causing food costs to rise extremely.

- Driving is very limited and he has to depend on rides from others or pay for driving services.

- Both his photography and writing have suffered. He has had to miss out on some important shoots and can only take photographs in limited smaller settings and venues as he cannot pan out as fast as needed to catch good shots. Due to his injuries, he can barely type or write at all, which has a pretty big negative impact on his income as a professional writer and photographer.

- He has needed to rely on errand services for very basic things like changing his bedding and light cleaning.

- There are still financial responsibilities from the accident. Insurance did not cover the entire bill for the property damage.

This was a very serious car crash which is going to take Jody at least a few months to recover from.

On top of the car accident, Jody has recently been in the hospital for pancreatitis and in an ICU for Diabetes 2. He now has these injuries from the car accident to deal with (all in the past few months); accumulated, he can have up to 3 different medical appointments a day and multiple throughout the week. The injury on his right arm by itself can need the dressing changed up to 3 times weekly - and due to overall injuries he cannot do this himself. From being recently diagnosed with Diabetes 2, he has a series of ongoing medical appointments for those as it stands.

Jody could really use your help right now.

In addition to the injuries listed above, Jody had to have 6 stitches in his head, a bruise and cut on his neck from the seat belt, internal neck injuries, and internal bleeding.

Some personal belongings were also lost, broken, and damaged or compromised, including prescription glasses and camera equipment.
