This Christmas Eve, what should have been a time of joy and celebration turned into a heartbreaking disaster for my father-in-law, Jody .On December 23rd Santa Cruz harbor was hit with devastating swells causing major damage to his home/boat. After teams relentlessly worked on saving his boat/home for 8 hours, patching holes and pumping out water they realized it was getting unsafe and not going to be salvageable eventually being left with no choice but to abandon the vessel and let the boat capsize.

This boat wasn’t just a vessel to him—it was his home and his livelihood. Jody poured his heart, soul, and countless hours into maintaining the boat, which served as a safe haven and a symbol of his hard work and independence. Losing it so suddenly and unexpectedly has been devastating, leaving him without a place to live.

With limited resources and the high costs of recovery, repairs, and finding temporary shelter, we are reaching out to our community, friends, and family for support during this difficult time.

This is an incredibly emotional and overwhelming experience for him, and we are doing everything we can to support him. Any contribution, big or small, would mean the world to him and to our family. Due to the size of the boat he was unable to get full coverage and only has liability, therefore he is fully responsible for the remainder of the loan and all expenses incurred.
