Hi, my name is Sharonda "Queen" Wilkes and I’m reaching out with a humble request for support.
For the past few years, I’ve been caring for my dear friend, 57-year-old Jody—someone who means the world to me. In April of 2022, he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, which is a form of cancer that has attacked his spinal cord, causing a loss of function in his lower body. He requires chemotherapy, radiation, catheter care, incontinent care, medication assistance, assistance with all activities of daily living, and transferring. As his health has declined, his needs have grown far beyond what his insurance will cover. We’ve reached a point where essential medical equipment is no longer optional—it’s necessary for his comfort, safety, and dignity.
Because Jody now needs round-the-clock assistance, I’ve had to stop working to ensure he receives the care he deserves. It hasn’t been easy, but I wouldn’t trade being there for him for anything. He is full of faith, appreciation, and life. We went through this aggressively two years ago and through love, laughter, diet, attentiveness, and compliance with treatment, he regained all motor function below his waist and was able to walk until June 26, 2025, when he was hospitalized and misdiagnosed. It began with weakness in the left leg and within a few days, it moved to the right leg. Within 5 days, he could not move his lower extremities and had loss of bowel and bladder function. He is now bed and wheelchair-bound.
We’re asking for help to cover the costs of:
• Medical equipment not covered by insurance
• Supplies for daily care and mobility
• Home adjustments to improve accessibility
• General living expenses while I continue to provide care. We are still awaiting insurance approval for a hospital bed and wheelchair ramp.
UPDATE‼️‼️‼️‼️
Mr. Demery has transitioned and we are asking your assistance to help us lay him to rest. Thank you all for the condolences, words of encouragement, prayers, phone calls, and texts. Bless you all‼️‼️‼️
Every donation—no matter the size—makes a real difference. If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing this campaign with others.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support and kindness.
With gratitude,
Queen & Jody
