Hello Everyone!

I created this GoFundMe account for my mom, who has always been one of the strongest, most giving and independent people I know. Over the past 18 months, her life has changed in ways none of us expected. She has been battling ongoing muscle and joint pain and has spent countless hours traveling to specialist appointments at Avera, Sanford, and CHI in Omaha, searching for answers.

Last year, she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and more recently with FND/MS. These conditions have made even simple daily tasks exhausting and painful. Walking—especially for long distances or extended periods—has become incredibly difficult, and some days it takes everything she has just to get through.

Her medical team has now recommended that she use a wheelchair. For someone as stubbornly independent as my mom, this has been an emotional and difficult reality to accept. A standard wheelchair isn’t practical for her—it’s too heavy and would require her to rely on others, something she has always fought hard to avoid.

A custom lightweight wheelchair would give her something so important: her independence. It would allow her to get in and out of her car on her own and continue living life with dignity and freedom. Unfortunately, this type of chair comes with a significant cost, and that’s why we are reaching out for help.
