We are starting a GoFundMe effort for our dear friend Jodi Kehler.
A vibrant, active 50 year old wife and loving mom to Lara and Emma, Jodi suffered a brain aneurysm on May 29, 2018 while attending one of her favourite exercise classes. After two surgeries and over a week in coma, Jodi is now conscious but has a long road to recovery ahead of her.
Since the aneurysm, Jodi has suffered several strokes on the left side of her brain. As a result of this, she has been unable to move her right side since the initial surgery. Jodi woke from her coma one week ago and since then, she has been unable to speak. With these factors considered, the clinicians have told the family that the next few weeks will determine what her recovery will involve. It is certain that it will entail months of gruelling therapy and intense rehabilitation. Her family is hopeful that Jodi will overcome these challenges.
Doctor's have stated that the initial six months of rehab is the most critical in Jodi's healing. We are happy that Jodi has recently moved from ICU to the High Acuity Unit where some small but positive changes are starting! Some daily progress is being made and Jodi's strength and willpower leave us confident she will eventually achieve a full recovery, however it will be emotionally, physically and financially draining on her family.
The love of her life - Ivan, has been constantly by her side. A self-employed painter, Ivan will be unable to work and support his family in the same capacity that he has. Caring for Jodi is priority number one.
Our goal is to help relieve this financial burden. All funds raised will go towards any medical or related expenses as well as assisting in paying the bills. This will allow Ivan, Lara and Emma to focus their efforts on Jodi in the months ahead.
