Hello everyone! My name is Jocelyn White and I’m originally from the East Texas area, although I’ve bounced around a lot due to foster care. Growing up wasn't easy, but I always found a way to strengthen myself for the ones around me. It hasn’t always been smooth, and it’s been a long and hard journey. I went into foster care around the age of 13, and I decided to age out of care at 18. From there, I went to college, but I unfortunately was still suffering from depression and other mental illnesses.
While I was at college and already struggling to keep friends, I got sexually assaulted on the late night of September 14, 2024, in my dorm. On top of the trauma that I was already coping with, this incident made it a heck of a lot harder to manage. I started isolating myself in my dorm and wouldn’t eat. Due to the lack of motivation, I stopped going to classes or doing homework, which really affected me in the long run. I was extremely depressed, but then I was brought into one of the most amazing organizations on my college campus. I started going to my college’s BSM (Baptist Student Ministry), and I later gave my life to Jesus on December 5, 2024. I was still lacking in classwork, which encouraged me to drop out. Worst mistake ever.
Since then, I have gotten a hold of myself and my emotions, and I am now doing better than ever. I am working towards going back to school, but I have an outstanding balance on my account which withholds me from registering. I ask that you make a small donation, anything helps, so I can go back to working on my career as an early childhood educator. If you’re still reading this, thank you for taking the time out of your day to hear my story. If you can’t donate, that’s ok! Feel free to share on socials or with people you think could help me. Again, thank you so much!
