Support JoAnne's Journey Back Home

Many of you know JoAnne either personally or through one of her children, Lisa, Melissa, Billy. Which likely means you also know that we typically don't ask for help. However, due to recent events, we are individually and collectively asking for assistance.

On Tuesday, July 16th, while traveling overseas alone, our mom was rushed by ambulance to a hospital in Italy. A CAT scan was performed and it revealed that she had perforated her colon, and she needed to undergo emergency surgery. At some point, she became septic and suffered a stroke. Due to the stroke, she is paralyzed on her right side, she cannot swallow, and she cannot speak (we're pretty sure this is her biggest frustration, LOL) . She was intubated, and now requires a colostomy and a feeding tube.

Mom is currently stable and no longer septic. The doctors have done what they can for her and are now recommending she return home for further hospital care. However, due to her current condition, she cannot travel on a commercial flight. Instead, she has to fly home on a medical transport flight where she will again be intubated for the duration of the trip to receive further hospital care.

This is the part where we ask for your help. The flight needs to be paid in full before they put her on the plane, and time is of the essence. The cost of the flight is $90,000 (and that's literally the lowest we've been able to find). Fortunately, Mom has traveler's insurance. That insurance covers $25,000. We still need to find $65,000.

Please consider making a donation to our cause. No amount is too small and every donation is greatly appreciated and humbly accepted. If you are unable to make a donation at this time, please share with others in hopes that we are able to get our mom home so we can take all next steps to aid in her recovery. Of course prayers, good vibes, and positive thoughts are also welcome.

We'd like to update everyone at this time that due to combined efforts, our mom will be returning home within the next few days. We'd also like to thank everyone once again for the outpouring of support you have given to our family throughout this difficult time. As you can imagine, she has a long road ahead of her. We will be keeping the fund active for continued donations toward her ongoing care. Again, from the bottom of of hearts, thank you, thank you, thank you!
