Support Joanna's Family Through Recovery

My name is Anna Rodney and I am the owner of Chicago Family Doulas. This gofundme has been started on behalf of the Young family, who we have had the honor of supporting with their twins as they recover from a tragic event.

On May 21st 2024, JoAnna Young, and her two young daughters, Bella and Violet, were hit by a car as they were heading into Bella’s swim team tryouts at the park district, while their father, Paul, was getting the families youngest members, nine month old twins, out of their own car. The driver hit them all at a high rate of speed, which caused significant trauma to all involved, both physically and mentally. Thankfully, Violet was only affected with mild injuries and was able to be sent home from the hospital that evening, but JoAnna and Bella weren’t as lucky. Bella sustained significant road rash that was so severe she had to be transported to Loyola’s burn unit where she stayed for several days, and JoAnna is still in the hospital, as she received the full impact and was left with several broken bones and has, and will continue to have, several surgeries to repair the damage caused. JoAnna will remain in the hospital for quite some time before she is then moved on to a rehabilitation facility where she will also have to stay for a while.

This has left Paul on his own to care for the girls, and also the twins, and while they have been able to enlist the support of doulas, this is obviously an expense the family could in no way have planned for. Our hope with this gofundme is that we are able to raise money to cover the cost of support. Any amount helps! This is such a wonderful family and Paul is doing amazing handling all of this on his own, but he shouldn’t have to. Any support we can gather for them would be incredibly appreciated.
