My name is Randy Rieger. I am raising funds for my Sister-In-Law & Family; Joann Rieger. On, May 13, 2024 Joann was walking the family dog Kaine early in the morning as she does most everyday after she returns home from her shift at work. Her routine is leaving work and taking the bus home, then walking their dog. While walking their dog, both Joann and Kaine were struck by a car. My brother Tony was just leaving for work and Kaine was outside of their home's door. Kaine was missing his collar and leash. My brother immediately felt that something was wrong so he went searching for Joann. Tony finally saw lights from emergency vehicles and the road was completely closed. Tony approached the scene and told the police officers that he was looking for his wife. After a description of her, the police officers confirmed that it was Joann who was being transported to the trauma center in critical condition. Tony immediately alerted his family. We all met at the hospital. Joann suffered brain fractures, broken ribs, two damaged arteries in her neck, a laceration from the top of her skull down her forehead to below her earlobe that required multiple stiches. Additionally, her arm had an immense laceration that also required multiple stiches. The two sons went back to the house to check on Kaine and discovered that he was limping and had lacerations on his paw & leg. They took him to the pet hospital to get him examined. The Vet said that Kaine seems okay and prescribed some antibiotics. So they immediately went back to the hospital to check on their Mother.
Joann was in ICU in critical condition for days. The emotional support from friends and family has been amazing! Joann went home yesterday. Thank God! She is a tuff women. However, their A/C unit went out today and it is 90+ here in Vegas. There are many other details that I may have missed however; considering the fact that Joann is alive and her strength to heal has been amazing. Her words: "I need to make my son's high school graduation this week" just proves what an amazing woman she is. In consideration of this tragedy to a loving family, I am posting a GoFundMe account for them on FB. Please send wishes, thoughts and prayers. If you are able, please donate as much as you can. Joann is going to be out of work for awhile and their family depends on her income just as we all depend on dual incomes during this time. Let us all help support this family so they can heal and get back to some kind of normal life. We all thank you in advance for any support you are able to provide. God bless.
