Kitty seizures are not common. But then Joanie was never a common kitty.
In October 2020, Joanie came home with me for the first time.
In March 2025, Joanie had her first seizure. I thought I was watching my cat die.
To my incredible relief, I was informed that, while indescribably distressing to witness, her symptoms could be managed.
Since then she has been in and out of the emergency room as we try to find the right course of treatment. At the very least, she will need anti-seizure meds every eight hours for the rest of her life.
Luckily I have pet insurance that covers 70% of most of her bills. We were all good until I got laid off in May. Now I am struggling to feed myself while also doing right by this special girl.
This GoFundMe is to cover that last 30% of the first few months of treatment and to go towards taking her to a kitty neurologist. While I’m not considering an incredibly expensive kitty MRI, I was advised that a specialist is still better equipped to figure out what the source of all this is.
Joanie is the best cat. Don’t take my word for it: trust every person who’s ever met her. She barely knows how to cat but she very knows how to love.
We’re all in it right now so if money isn’t in the cards, a share will go a long way. Thank you so much for considering a donation to help this sweet, special, freckle-footed girl.
