My mom, Joan Riback, relocated to Altadena to be near family and made it her forever home. She fell in love with the area and embraced, and was embraced by, the community. She has been very active in the community, helping to make Altadena a vibrant and thriving destination. Her support of local craftsmen and artists was evident in her home.

When she left rapidly, she only took her dogs, leaving a life's worth of memories of her and her children's lives, heirlooms, and curated items, not realizing it would be the last time she would see them.

As she battles to stay positive and face the mountains of emotionally challenging paperwork ahead, her family is trying to support her to move forward with getting back on her feet.

The ability support herself as she gets back on her feet and pushes the paperwork through insurance will be key to getting her home rebuilt in good order.

She was in the middle of building an addition on her property, so her available capital is depleted.
