I am Addison Hudson-Irizarry, the Producer of Joaco Arauco's (Writer and Director) "The Divorce." The Divorce is a crime comedy short-film that follows Ringo, a rookie hitman obssesed with being validated. His situation worsens when his two partners, Paul and John (code names chosen after The Beatles) plan on betraying and murdering each other, without knowing they both have the exact same plan. Now, in a series of tragically comedic moments, Ringo will have to choose a side, hence killing one of his admired partners.

From the Director:
"As a director, writer and producer, I am a passionate storyteller interested in the introspection and psychology of people. I’m a fierce believer that everyone’s life is an interesting story, and the moral ambiguities of it are what make them compelling.

Whether it is through a screenplay that steers away from reality as much as possible or profound genre work with a distinctive camera and light work, I always say I want to portray reality in a surreal way.

My main inspiration are horror movies like The Shining and Suspiria that explore the human psyche in horrifying ways, as well as the highly emotional stories of filmmakers like Pedro Almodóvar—that i deeply admire—. Combining this influence with my always present Peruvian culture and heritage, I’m able to craft stories with a renewed and fresh take, always aiming to bring a new point of view into my projects.

We need around 600 dollars to make The Divorce happen. It is an ambitious project in a much bigger scale than anything I’ve directed before. Even though I’m confident in my abilities, crew needs to be fed and stuff like the SFX Makeup Art need to be covered. This donation would be an huge help for us to achieve this!

As a filmmaker, this is my second directed project, so I am going bigger and crazier with it. I have trust in my abilities and experience as a storyteller who has successfully finished projects before. The emotional layers of what only seems as a crime comedy and the representation of a separation that I try to portray are something a lot of people can relate to and find value in as a validation of their experience and feelings.

Based on the filmmaking of directors I deeply admire like Paul Thomas Anderson or Robert Eggers, in the Divorce the camera cuts as least as possible. Even though the final result will be an astonishingly dynamic experience, the complexity of these shots will mean a lot of rehearsals and prep time. Added to that, I’m sharing the set with a lot of new collaborators I’m excited to work with. It’ll be challenging, but insanely rewarding.
