Support Joa Dawson & Family

Hi! I’m Joa’s Aunt Lexee. Every year my family boils sap to make maple syrup. It is one of our favorite days as a family. On Sunday March 3rd we were outside making syrup all day. Family and friends in the yard playing football, riding bikes, kids making lunches at the mud kitchen. At 5 pm we we finished our syrup on the fire and transferred it to a pasta pot. Which we then bring inside to the stove. As a freak accident would happen, within seconds my 2 year old niece Joa, tripped and fell backwards into the pot of syrup. Luckily she was picked up and her clothes were removed immediately. EMS arrived within 10 minutes and she was then flown by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center. She sustained 2nd degree burns on her legs, back and abdomen. She is being cared for by their burn team and is admitted to the Pediatric ICU at this time.
My sister and brother-in-law would never ask for help. So, I am asking for them. Joa will be in Westchester for the foreseeable future. My sister is self employed and will not be working as she supports Joa through this massive recovery process. My brother-in-law will be back and forth between home with their 2 other kids and Westchester. Eventually a pile of medical bills that will not be fully covered by insurance is going to appear in their mailbox. Anything helps and if you feel so inclined to donate, thank you from the bottom of our hearts
