Jo McDougall, Arkansas Poet Laureate Emeritus, one of our own - a poet, writer, and cherished mentor - has spent a lifetime inspiring others through her words and dedication to the literary arts. As a mentee of the great Miller Williams, she carries forward a legacy of compassion and creativity. Now, in her later years, she needs our support.

After the Little Rock tornado of 2023 hit Jo's living facility forcing her to relocate, she faced the monumental challenge of finding a new place to live without her belongings which were sent away to storage. Our beloved poet is now facing another relocation, compounded by mounting expenses and the challenges of rebuilding her life on a fixed income.

Miller Williams once wrote, "Have compassion for everyone you meet, even if they don't want it... You do not know what wars are going on down there where the spirit meets the bone." Today, Jo fights her own battle of spirit and bone - and together, we can help.
