Support The Butchers: Recover Their Family Home & Memories

Donation protected
After a few requests from friends, family, and coworkers asking how they can help, we set this up on behalf of our parents.

Our family home of 30+ years was just lost in the Eaton Fire. Our parents escaped on a moment's notice with very few items and the clothes on their backs. What do you think to grab when you're being told, "We have to get out! Grab your things!"?

As it turns out, you'd want to think of a whole lot more. Things as simple as underwear and shoes, or as important as family photos, generational family recipes, family heirlooms, 45-year-old cherished wedding gifts, and so much more. But none of that proves important in the moment of getting your life to safety.

It almost feels like you're reliving the loss of the family members that have passed, all over again. Those treasured artifacts you had, to keep them physically with you, are gone. Our mom kept so much of our family members alive in that home. Every time she’d be cooking or baking, she'd be serving it in a family dish, using a recipe that her great-grandmother hand wrote, or seating us at a table or place setting that belonged to one of our grandparents. Don't get us started on the holidays... they were amazing.

Our parents' house was "the" house that we'd all gather at for any holiday or birthday. It was also the home for many neighborhood parties, weddings, gatherings with friends, and so many other events. Hosting events at our home brought so much love and joy to us and our friends, but mostly to our parents. Our parents show their love to others by cooking and hosting, to bring people together in the most loving, memorable, and detail-oriented way.

Seeing our childhood home that sheltered us, protected us, and gave us so much love as we grew up, to be scorched and crumbled is quite literally heartbreaking. How can so much turn into nothing? What's even more heartbreaking is seeing this haven of a home taken from my parents, who worked so hard to build it up to what it was just a week ago. When we first moved in, it was in very bad shape and required a lot of hard work, sweat, and love to make it what it was 30 years later. They did it all... they made it what it was and the love was felt by everyone who walked through their doors. It was their gift to all of us.

It's going to be a long path forward for them, but we will be there with them every step of the way.

For now, we're hoping this can help them get situated as they endure the next few years of "unknown," until a new home might be able to be established. Even just to get some clothes, shoes, personal items, etc., until insurance kicks in.

We so look forward to seeing our parents host these magical gatherings again.

Thank you in advance for your support. We appreciate all of those who have reached out and sent their love and prayers. Your prayers mean everything to us.

With love,
Bryce & Brandon (on behalf of our parents)
