I’m 68 years old and recently lost my live-in boyfriend of 8 years, who passed away unexpectedly on 3/16/26. We relied on both our social security checks to make ends meet, and now I’m facing the challenge of covering all our shared expenses on my own. I’ve already started canceling things to save money wherever I can, but it’s still not enough. On top of that, I’m trying to put together a celebration of life to honor the man he was, but there’s no money available for even a minimal gathering.
We lost our car last year after he lost his job as a truck driver due to his eyesight, which has made getting around much harder. I’ve also been having problems with falling this past year, so I now use a cane and walker to get by. The loss of his monthly income has left me struggling to keep up with bills and expenses we used to share.
The funds from this fundraiser would help me pay off some credit cards and a personal loan that a family member helped us with last year. I’m also hoping to save enough to hold a celebration of life in a local park, so that friends and those he helped as a drug and alcohol counselor can attend. Having some support would help me stop worrying about how I’ll make it on my own, and give me a little cushion for anything that may come up for me or my 11-year-old Yorkie. Any support you can give would mean the world to me as I try to honor my partner’s memory and get back on my feet. Thank you for reading and for any help you can offer.
