In January 2026, four of our JMU Women’s Rugby players will compete at the National Collegiate Rugby Women’s All-Stars Tournament, the top showcase for elite college athletes and a rare chance to perform in front of national-level coaches and scouts. This selection reflects their hard work and is a huge moment of pride for our team and university. As a student-run club, we cover all our own travel, lodging, and event costs, so your support directly helps these athletes seize this opportunity. Every donation gets them one step closer to taking the national stage and showing everyone what JMU Rugby is all about. Let’s send them there strong:
Below are statements from each of these players highlighting what rugby means to them.
Jessica Faranada: "Rugby has taught me to push myself even when I feel like I have nothing left, and to believe in myself. Rugby has given me a space to be myself and develop myself and a player and a person. I love the sport and my team and I am so grateful for everything rugby has brought me. "
Nora Richards: "Rugby has become one of the most important parts of my life because it pushes me to grow and stay disciplined. This is my first time being selected for a higher-level side, and I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity. Being able to play alongside talented athletes from different teams is a huge step in my development as a player. I’m grateful for every chance to challenge myself, represent my team, and keep improving."
Kaia Lyons: “Rugby has been one of the most important aspects of my life since I stepped on the pitch. Being selected to play for All-Star teams and USA camps is a very validating feeling and proves to me that my hard work is paying off. These opportunities allow me to train at the next level and train beside players and for coaches that help me develop my skills and reach the next level. I aspire to one day play professionally and these opportunities give me the tools to do so.”
Violet Powell: "Rugby is a huge part of my life, it’s where I’ve built confidence, discipline, and met some of my closest friends. Being selected for the 15s All-Stars event is a rare chance to train and play with some of the top players in the country. It will push me, allow me to learn from different coaches, and help me grow at a higher level of play. Your support would mean so much and help me take this next step in my rugby journey!"
