Support JJ's Recovery After Traumatic Accident

Hi, my name is Amandeep, Johan’s mom. Johan, known by many as JJ, recently turned 18 and is in his final year of high school. He is and was very passionate about his growing window washing business and for graduating from high school. All of that recently changed as JJ was in a major solo car crash.
As a parent, I got the worst FaceTime call from JJ’s phone from a nurse wheeling JJ to the operating room. At that moment, I was informed that JJ wanted to tell me he was going in for emergency brain surgery. Since JJ was 18, they could not tell me anything else as he was considered an adult. JJ, being in and out of consciousness due to the brain bleed, somehow gained the strength to tell me he was going to be okay and gave the nurse permission to tell me why he was at the hospital.
Being in complete shock and disbelief, I gained the strength with the help of family to make the trip from Lathrop to Walnut Creek.
Not knowing much about the accident, we thought this accident probably occurred as JJ was going to school, but we later found out it happened as he was returning from purchasing a laptop for school from someone in San Francisco. He purchased this laptop with his hard-earned money from his window washing business, and unfortunately, it was destroyed in the car crash.
We are very thankful to the person driving behind JJ that called for help, to the CHP officers that arrived promptly on the scene, to the first responders that used the Jaws of Life to get JJ out, and all of the medical professionals that cared for JJ and made the important decisions to save JJ’s life.
JJ suffered a traumatic brain injury and brain bleed that required major surgery where doctors had to remove a part of his skull. He also suffered a bleed in his spleen, fractures in his lumbar, and nerve damage behind his left knee that has caused some difficulty walking. While still trying to heal from this major accident, JJ had to undergo another unrelated emergency surgery to remove his appendix.
JJ still has a long road to recovery, which involves many doctor’s appointments, including physical and occupational therapy. JJ is very eager to return to his normal life, which includes graduating from high school, walking the stage to receive his diploma without having to wear his helmet that protects his brain, and returning to washing windows.
JJ has a very supportive family on both sides, as well as a lot of friends that love him a lot, and I believe this has helped JJ’s recovery, along with being very outgoing, active, and healthy prior to his accident.
JJ will be going in for another major brain surgery on May 13, 2025, called Cranioplasty, where they plan on putting back the bone flap that was removed during the initial surgery.
I am very thankful for my job that has allowed me to take time off to be by JJ’s side during his hospital stays, as I just returned to the job force this past August and do not have enough sick or vacation time.
With the funds raised, we hope to pay for JJ’s medical costs and help JJ get back on his feet as he will continue to heal from this accident and will not be able to work or drive.
Please pray for JJ as he continues to heal and that his next surgery goes well. Thank you.
