Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
I hope you're all doing well. As many of you know, I just wrapped up my first year playing college basketball at Mars Hill University in North Carolina. It was a year of growth, learning, and unforgettable experiences. While I had some early-season success, my freshman year took an unexpected turn when I suffered a torn labrum in my right hip, requiring surgery and cutting my season short.
This setback hasn’t changed my passion or my goals—it’s only fueled my determination to come back stronger. I’m currently focused on an intensive rehab program this summer so I can return to the court ready for a great sophomore season.
Playing college basketball has been a lifelong dream, and I’m fully committed to putting in the work to achieve my potential. However, since Mars Hill does not offer any NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) compensation, I’ve decided to take initiative and launch a Free Throw Fundraiser to help cover the costs of advanced off-season training.
On May 23rd, I’ll be shooting 500 free throws, and I’m inviting you to be part of my journey. You can support me in one of two ways:
1. Pledge an amount per made free throw (e.g., $0.10, $0.25, $1.00 per shot made), or
2. Make a one-time donation through my GoFundMe.
All funds raised will go directly toward high-level basketball training programs this summer—programs that will help me prepare mentally and physically for the upcoming season. My parents have supported me every step of the way, and now I want to do my part to take this dream to the next level.
If you choose to sponsor me per made free throw, I’ll share my shooting results and personal updates after May 23rd so you can see exactly how I did.
Thank you so much for your time, support, and belief in me. Any amount helps and is truly appreciated more than words can express.
Let’s take this shot—together.
With gratitude,
JJ Williams #24
