Brittany and I were told of JJ’s diagnosis when he was 6 days old. We were overcome with so many emotions, scared, anger, confused, anxious. We had no idea how we were going to be good enough parents for him. Little did we know, he would show us that we were meant to be his parents AND we were beyond blessed to be chosen.
He is not his diagnosis, he is our JJ. He smiles and laughs like other babies, he plays like other babies, he meets his milestones like other babies. Some things he may do on his own time, but he will get there and we will always be behind him pushing him to be his best self.
Brittany and I are running in the BMW Dallas Marathon to raise awareness and support for the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS). This incredible organization is dedicated to empowering individuals with Down syndrome and advocating for their full participation in all aspects of life. NDSS has been a vital resource for families like ours, supporting research, promoting public awareness, and pushing for policies that create opportunities and equality.
This cause is so close to our hearts, and we’d be incredibly grateful if you joined us by donating to NDSS. Every contribution, big or small, can make a difference in the lives of those with Down syndrome.
After the race, Brittany and I will donate 100% of the funds received directly to NDSS!
