Our hope with this Gofundme is to help alleviate some of the financial burden that will inevitably come as the Elizondo family walks through this journey. We spoke with Michelle and JJ to get permission to create this.

To know the Elizondo family is to love them.

Below is an update from JJ’s wife, Michelle.

”These last several weeks have been a whirlwind. A few weeks ago JJ ended up at MedCheck with some pain where they advised him to go to the ER. The hospital admitted him and over the following 3 days they ran several tests, CT scans, and a biopsy and tried to manage his pain. We waited another week and a half for the results of the biopsy and learned that it was indeed cancer but that it wasn’t black or white as to where it was originating from, which would be important to know for treatment. He received several other labs and procedures throughout last week and we now know that JJ has been diagnosed with Esophageal cancer. We are still unsure of treatment but will hopefully go over it with his doctor this Thursday. As we walk through this new diagnosis we have been blessed with such a great community of people. Family, friends, coworkers, and the church have been there to support us through the start of this fight and I know they will continue to be by our side as we fight & pray for his returned health.

We know that God does not make mistakes. He has a plan for JJ’s life & for our family. He will never leave or forsake us. “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.””

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31‬:‭8‬. Faith is what is keeping our heads above water. Even when it feels like everything is falling apart we can see how God has been moving, how He has been aligning things to put us in the right spot to fight this.

We continue to ask for prayers for him and our family. We can only rely on the Lord for our strength. We pray for the doctors & medical team to have the wisdom needed to best care for him. But ultimately we pray for a miracle. We know nothing is too much for our God! Jeremiah 32: 17 says, “Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.”

I share this with you all because we know we have so many people in our circle that are ready to pray and serve him. We are so thankful for the texts, calls, meals, yard work, and help with the kids that we have already received. It is truly humbling. We will continue to keep our family and friends updated as we know things.”
