Hi, I’m Jiraiya’s mom, Angel.
Last Friday, May 16th, we went on our very first family picnic as a new family of four. I never imagined it would be the last time I’d see my baby boy walking on all four legs.
At 4 a.m. the following morning, I woke to find Jiraiya immobilized, panting, and crying in pain. I immediately woke my husband, and we rushed our baby boy to the nearest emergency clinic. Later that evening, we took him to a second emergency hospital 30 minutes away that specializes in neurology, where he needed an MRI to identify the issue. They told us the earliest available MRI would be on Monday, May 19th. Due to the severity of his condition, they decided to hospitalize him immediately and begin treatment with pain medication, IV fluids, and a urinary catheter, as he was unable to urinate or stay hydrated on his own.
We received constant updates that Jiraiya was not only in pain but also experiencing extreme anxiety. I could only imagine how distressed he must have been as he’s always had his family by his side, and I know he was scared without us there.
On Monday, May 19th, we received the heartbreaking news that Jiraiya had no feeling in his back legs. The MRI confirmed a disc that needed to be surgically removed. The doctors were transparent and informed us of complications they discovered during the MRI and we would only know the next steps after surgery.
We are staying hopeful and positive. While Jiraiya may be disabled, our biggest wish is for him to be pain-free, return home to his family, and continue to live a full and joyful life while adjusting to his new normal. I’m prepared to do whatever it takes with rehab, treatments, anything he needs to give him the best possible outcome.
At the time they made the decision to hospitalize him under 24-hour watch and begin treatment, we were required to pay a deposit of $13,874.42. I’m asking for any donation big or small to help our family provide Jiraiya with the urgent care he needs.
If you’ve ever met Jiraiya or heard stories about him, you know he’s a fun, silly, and kind-hearted boy who absolutely loves to run and play. His energy is endless, you truly have to see it to believe it. He’s the kind of pup who could play all day without stopping.
We’re hoping for a smooth surgery and recovery without complications so he can come back home where he belongs, happy and pain-free. He’s a young pup, just 3 years old, and I just want to see him live a long, happy, pain-free life.
