Hi, I’m Loren Rose, and I’m reaching out to you today to support USS Bear, a non-profit organization dedicated to making a difference for dogs in need of saving from euthanasia at our local shelters. We strive to uplift those in need and provide invaluable resources to improve their lives. Your generosity can help us continue this important work.

We are raising funds specifically for Jina's Pyometra emergency surgery and mammary tumor removal.
Jina has shown us that she is resiliant and ready to keep living a great life full and surrounded by love.

Here is the short version of Jina's story:

Jina, a 69 lb, 5-7 year old intact female Cane Corso, was surrendered to the West Valley Animal Shelter on April 3rd by her owners at around 4:30 pm.
Jina was surrendered with the following medical conditions:
Emaciated, malnourished, starved, dehydrated, blind, and with large mammary tumors.
Jina became medically alerted and rescue-only due to her medical needs that the shelter was unable to provide. The shelter gave Jina only a few days to be rescued.
That is when USS Bear stepped in and rescued Jina, after hearing she lost 4 lbs in just 4 days.

Jina was rescued on April 8th and taken to the vet on April 9th.
Jina was officially diagnosed with diabetes, lung cancer, metastatic breast cancer, anemia, and high cholesterol.

On April 22nd, Jina went back to the vet for her 2-week checkup.
Unfortunately, Jina was diagnosed with Pyometra, a serious bacterial infection of the uterus (womb) in unspayed female dogs, often caused by E. coli bacteria. It typically develops four to eight weeks after a heat cycle due to hormonal changes, particularly elevated progesterone, which thickens the uterine lining and creates an environment conducive to bacterial growth. The infection causes the uterus to fill with pus, which can lead to sepsis, kidney failure, dehydration, and death if untreated.

Due to her iron deficiency, she couldn't undergo emergency surgery.
However, blood results have shown that her iron has gone up in the past few days, and she is ready for the surgery on Wednesday, April 29th.
