On May 15th, my husband Jim called me while I was out running errands and told me he was driving himself to the ER. He was complaining about having a 3-day long, excruciating headache and enough was enough. He rarely gets headaches and the concern that pushed him to go was in 2019, he found out he had a brain aneurysm due to past blunt force head trauma, being thrown from a windshield in a car accident. During a cat scan in the beginning of his hospital stay, they found a second aneurysm connected to the first one he was unaware of. This one though is extremely thin and life-threatening. To sum it up, he is a ticking time bomb until he gets surgery.
So with a combined total of 6 days in the hospital at $1200 a day, numerous tests (including daily blood work, cat scans, spinal taps, etc), 7 medications, and an unknown medical bill that has yet to still come in the mail, we are biting our nails at the thought of how we're going to manage any of it without insurance. But on top of it all, we have yet to even schedule his front cerebral surgery which will cost an unfathomable amount of money.
After surgery, Jim will continue to be in the hospital for an unknown amount of time (the first day being in the ICU). We need to schedule the surgery as soon as humanly possible because this aneurysm could burst at any moment immediately incapacitating him or even killing him.
About 25% of people who experience a brain aneurysm rupture, die within 24 hours. Around 50% of people die within three months of the rupture due to complications. Of those who survive, about 66% experience permanent brain damage. Only some people recover with little or no disability. That being said, absolutely anything would help so we are able to get Jim this surgery as quickly as possible. Even if you are not able to help us financially, please pray for Jim. Absolutely anything is appreciated.
