My brother Jim is about to face the fight of his life and after 8 long years on the transplant list, the time has finally come.

At just 52 years old, he’s been waiting with quiet strength and unwavering hope for a liver and kidney transplant. Now, that call could come any day. While we are incredibly grateful for this second chance at life, the journey ahead is still heavy with uncertainty and challenges.

He will need to stay in Nebraska for at least 8 weeks after the surgery, far from his home in Iowa, to recover and be closely monitored by his transplant team. As someone living on a fixed income, the financial strain of housing, transportation, meals, and aftercare is overwhelming. But he’s never been one to complain he’s always faced life’s hardships with humility, grit, and a gentle heart.

This man means the world to us. He’s a son, a brother, an uncle, and a friend with so much more life left to live, so much more love to give. We are praying this transplant gives him that chance.
