Jim's Transplant Journey

Donation protected

Jim and Cindy need help on his journey to receiving a heart transplant.

Jim and Cindy will need help with finances along the way during this journey. Jim gets a very small SSI check each month and Cindy works 30 hours a week from home so that she is able to care for him and his needs. Finances are very tight and limited for several reasons. Jim receives SSI and NOT SSDI which means his benefits and what he receives depends on Cindy's income. If she makes over a certain amount of money each month, he looses his benefits, including medical coverage. At this point, loosing insurance benefits would mean there would be no hope for a heart transplant or any other life extending procedures for Jim. Their approximant income is about $1760 a month at this point and their expenses are around $1700 a month . . . this leaves no wiggle room for unexpected or abnormal expenses! Cindy missing work hours here and there, having to fill up the gas tank to make doctors appointments and things like that are a fast drain on the bank account. These types of expenses are pretty much impossible to meet at this time.

We will accept PayPal and Cashapp as well, reach out to me by using the contact below for those details.

Any help that can be given is truly appreciated. They are hoping to raise enough money to relieve some of this financial stress they are facing.

How it all began . . . Jim began having heart health issues at the age of 28 years old when he had his first massive heart attack. Since then he has had several more and a quad by-pass along the way. He has a few other health issues that have made the process a bit more challenging. In August of 2024 he suffered another heart attack where he was informed that the quad by-pass had failed and he was also told at that time he had developed heart failure and it was at end stages. He was put on a cocktail of medications to try and slow the progression of the heart failure and put through cardiac rehab but this past week we received the news that there has been no improvement and it has actually progressed much more.

Jim is only 47 years old with lots of life left to hopefully live. He has 2 amazing adult children, one of which will be marrying soon and hopefully having some grandbabies. He really wants to be around for that. He also has his wife, Cindy of 24 years and they have a lot of life yet to live together. This is where you come in. You can help extend Jim's life and make life just a little bit less stressful for him and Cindy.

There a few steps that have to be taken while waiting for a heart transplant to keep Jim's current heart ticking and working for him. The first step will be getting an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator installed into his chest. This is a small, battery operated device that will monitor his heart and correct any life-threatening issues with a shock to the heart. After that, he will need to get a LVAD Heart Pump installed. This is a major surgery that will require 2 to 3 weeks in the hospital for recovery and adjustment time. The LVAD will help pump blood from the heart to the rest of his body because his heart is getting much to weak to do it on its own. This is a device will act as a temporary fix while we wait on a heart for a transplant because the wait list is long and there are many people who need transplant's.
