Hello everyone,

My name is Anita Rangel and my brother, Jim Battles, suffered a very serious fall on April 18, 2026, which resulted in a traumatic brain injury, a dislocated shoulder that has caused nerve damage to his left arm and hand, along with other less severe injuries.

Due to his injuries, his doctor has taken him off work for at least the next six months, possibly longer. He has no income coming in at all because he’s exhausted his leave credits with his work. He is on FMLA (job protection only), but it runs out in the middle of June, at which time he will also lose his medical insurance coverage. With the treatment that’s necessary for his traumatic brain injury as well as his nerve damage to his left arm/hand, it’s imperative that he keeps his medical coverage. He has applied for state disability, but that takes 2 to 3 weeks for approval and will not cover his basic living expenses, let alone his medical insurance. I realize everyone is dealing with high gas prices, groceries, and just everyday costs to live. Anything you can contribute will be so greatly appreciated so we can get him back on his feet and hopefully back to work sooner rather than later without the stress of losing everything he has, along with not getting the proper treatment he so desperately needs.
