Hi all, as most of you know, my name is Kaweah, and I’m fundraising for my dad, Jim — the most loyal, hard-working, and quietly resilient man I know. Over the last few months, his health has taken a sudden and frightening turn. What started as abdominal pain and fatigue quickly escalated into multiple hospitalizations, emergency procedures, and a series of complications that have left us searching for answers while trying to hold everything together.
Recently, his doctors discovered a large mass on the tail of his pancreas, along with splenic vein occlusion, internal bleeding, and severe anemia. This time, his hemoglobin dropped to 6.5, requiring urgent intervention and surgery. He has lost significant muscle mass, weight, and strength. He’s aging rapidly in front of us, and every week brings a new medical emergency, specialist visit, or diagnostic test. We’re still in the middle of determining whether this mass is cancer — but regardless of the final diagnosis, his road ahead is long, complicated, and overwhelming.
My dad has always been the kind of person who gives quietly and never asks for anything in return. He worked with his hands his whole life, built his world from grit and love, and is the type of man who would show up for anyone even when he had little to give. Now, he can’t work, can’t keep up with basic bills, and is facing medical expenses, specialty appointments, procedures, and the cost of daily living while he recovers and plans for the road ahead.
I’m doing everything I can as his daughter — advocating, coordinating care, traveling back and forth, and covering what I’m able to — but we’ve reached a point where we can’t do this alone.
What Your Support Will Help With:
• Ongoing diagnostic testing, imaging, and specialist consultations
• Medications and supplies not fully covered by insurance
• Help with rent, utilities, and basic living costs while he is unable to work
Any amount helps more than you know — even sharing this page means the world. My dad deserves comfort, dignity, and the chance to focus on healing without drowning in fear about how he’ll survive financially through all of this.
Thank you for showing up for him, and for us, in such a difficult and uncertain time. Your compassion truly gives us strength right now.
— Kaweah and Family
