Jim is my husband, great dad, husband, grandpa, and friend! He would give the shirt off his back for someone in need. And today, he is in need.
January 2024, Jim had a regular day, went to help our daughter, later didn’t feel well, and went home. Later that night, he went to the ER, hard to breathe, so weak he could barely move. Diagnosed with Flu A and pneumonia, he was kept for five days then sent home. The weakness became worse, spreading up to his arms, hands, and lungs. He was rushed by ambulance and a few days later placed on a ventilator. Guillain-Barré was suspected. He was very ill, became septic, went into cardiac arrest, suffered a stroke, and had renal failure and heart failure. He never gave up; he fought. He was sent to Warm Springs where he was overmedicated and went into cardiac arrest. Came back to ICU, suffered sepsis, and consequently developed a sacral wound that went to the bone (bedsore). Back to LTAC he went with a tube to divert his waste from this deep wound. At the LTAC, they removed the tube without deflation of the balloon, ripping his rectum and requiring emergency surgery. He was released, went back to ICU because of bleeding. He’s had numerous runs with sepsis due to various infections, including a gallbladder that had to be removed. In October 2024, due to high CO2 levels while they tried to wean him from the vent, he went into cardiac arrest a third time; he was down for 20 minutes. His renal failure continues, and he requires dialysis, the one thing that is holding him back from coming home is the need for regular dialysis. He’s quadriplegic add in the vent outpatient dialysis facilities will not accept him. He’s fought so hard to be here for his family, he wants to go home, see his pups, and spend time with his family. It is his heartfelt wish. As you can imagine, this last year and a half has put a huge strain financially, and to bring him home I have to cover costs of nurses and supplies that insurance won’t. Can you help? Thank you so much!!
