My name is Caitlyn - daughter-in-law to Jim. Jim is a son, dad, grandpa (Bompa), and fiancé (soon to be husband) and much more. On November 21st, 2024, Jim presented to Bronson Kalamazoo for chest pain and shortness of breath - this resulted in a 10-day admission, including a bronchoscopy with biopsies of many enlarged lymph nodes and masses. Results gave us heartbreaking news: "You have lung cancer." Following discharge and having to schedule many follow-up tests and outpatient appointments, he was directed back to Bronson ER on Friday, December 6th for worsening edema (leg swelling), shortness of breath, chest pain, and abnormal blood work. Jim has fluid in his chest cavity that is located behind his heart, including a large mass they were unable to biopsy due to the location. Bronson advised us they were not able to drain this fluid as it is a risky procedure. In short, he was discharged Saturday, December 7th early afternoon after being told, "You have stage 4 metastatic lung cancer. There is nothing more we can do for you here."
Our family made a collective decision to take his care to UofM in Ann Arbor. UofM has started their workup of care and is admitting him to give him the care he NEEDS and DESERVES. Unfortunately, all previous treatment, current treatment, and future treatment is putting a huge financial strain on Jim and Kim. We are asking for prayers, positive thoughts, and any donations to help ease their financial burden they are facing. We are hoping Jim will be able to join his family for this Holiday Season. ❤️ We appreciate all of the love and support!
